On June 11-12 Gilmanton’s Own, Inc. participated for the first time in the state-wide campaign to support nonprofit organizations, New Hampshire Gives. We only found out about this campaign a couple of weeks before it happened, and worked very hard to gear up.
We were thrilled with our success, and especially, the generosity of so many of our supporters. Thirty-nine individuals gave $2,855 during the campaign, and in addition, some people gave just before or after the campaign, or made donations direct to GOI without going through the NH Gives website. We ranked 39th (out of well over 100 organizations) in terms of the number of people giving, and 44th in terms of the number of dollars donated. We are so very grateful to all of you who are contributing to the sustainability of this organization.
These donations will be used to build our infrastructure so we are better able to serve our farmers, artisans, artists, and customers. This brings us closer to being able to hire employees to work in the Market, which will keep us sustainable and (by creating employment) able to contribute even more to this region.
If you missed the NH Gives Campaign but would like to support this important missions, you can do so at any time. Here are three ways:
- Use the Donate button on this page to make a financial contribution.
- Consider volunteering in the Market — contact any member of the Board.
- Shop at the Market!
PLEASE HELP GILMANTON’S OWN THRIVE!
We need your support. Gilmanton’s Own, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicating to supporting local agriculture, farmers, and artisans. Although GOI deducts a small commission from sales at Gilmanton’s Own Market, that doesn’t come close to providing the funding we need for rent, equipment, furniture, promotions, insurance, licensing, and everything else it takes to support this venture. Up to this point the Market operates entirely through volunteer labor — and just about everyone who works in the Market has a “real job,” maybe kids, and other obligations. But we’re in this for the community.
To be viable, we will have to be able to hire people to work in the market, we have to be able to cover all expenses. Eventually, we want to acquire our own place to be able to do all the things we envision for this community.
Please consider helping through your financial support or your donation of equipment or other needs. . No amount is too small to count and make a difference. (And no amount is too big!) Feel free to talk to one of the Board members about your interest in supporting GOI. When the Market is open, drop by to make a contribution.
Gilmanton’s Own has officially been designated a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization by the IRS, so your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
